Huskers Invite Fans to Intrasquad Meet

Lincoln, Neb. – Fans of Nebraska women’ s gymnastics are reminded they can get a glimpse of the 2015 squad at a free intrasquad meet Friday, Nov. 21 at 6 p.m. in Mabel Lee Hall.

The Huskers will perform routines on every event in Olympic order, beginning with vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise. Free team schedule cards will be available to fans in attendance and the Huskers will sign autographs following the meet.

Nebraska’s solid core of nine letterwinners returns from the squad that took home its fourth consecutive conference title and finished sixth at the NCAA Championships in April. The 2015 team will also feature two gymnasts that have combined for eight All-America honors during their career, including senior standout Jessie DeZiel and junior Hollie Blanske. Returners Amanda Lauer, Desire' Stephens, Maddie McConkey, Jennie Laeng and Ariel Martin, will add talent and great depth to the Huskers’ roster this season.

The Big Red welcomes back senior Jennifer Lauer and sophomore Ashley Lambert who fell to injury last season. The team will also debut three talented freshmen including four-time J.O. National qualifier Danielle Breen of Ames, Iowa. Breen will be joined by versatile and talented West Bloomfield, Mich., native Kamerin Moore and the 2014 J.O. National all-around champion Grace Williams from Linden, Mich.

Nebraska will open its 2015 schedule on Friday Jan. 9 at the Bob Devaney Sports Center for the second annual Tumble N’ Rumble combined meet with wrestling at 7 p.m. The Huskers will host five regular-season home meets against, Penn State (Jan. 17), Iowa (Feb. 7), the Masters Classic featuring Illinois and San Jose (March 1) and Oregon State (March 7). Nebraska will also host one of the two Big Ten Five Team Meets on Saturday March 14 at noon, which will decide the Big Ten Regular Season Champion.
