2015 • Sophomore Season
Despite suffering from a pre-season injury that left her out for most of the regular season, Ariel Martin worked her way back to be a part of NU’s vault lineups in the postseason in 2015. At the Ames Regional, Martin vaulted to a 9.85 in her first return to the lineups. At the NCAA Championships, she stuck a 9.875 vault to post the second-highest score of the Huskers' squad.
2014 • Redshirt Freshman Season
Martin stepped up as a three-event competitor for Nebraska in her first season of competition, consistently contributing on vault, bars and floor. Martin was a key performer on vault as she did not miss a meet on the event all year and achieved her career-high mark of 9.95 against Arkansas, when she took second place behind Jessie DeZiel, who put up a 9.975 score.
Martin earned her best mark on bars against Minnesota with her unique routine, notching a 9.825. As a floor worker, she showed steady improvement all season long and claimed her high mark at the NCAA Semifinals (9.85) to propel the Huskers to the Super Six Finals the next day.
2013 • Freshman Season
A powerful performer on floor and vault, Ariel Martin sat out the season due to injury.
Before Nebraska
Martin joined the Huskers after training at the Illinois Gymnastics Institute under Todd Gardiner. Martin was a key member of IGI's two state championship teams in 2009 and 2011, but also achieved a great deal as an individual. She had an excellent showing at the 2011 Region V Championships, finishing first in the all-around in the Senior B division, scoring a 38.050. Martin snagged first-place finishes on vault, beam and floor en route to victory. A competitor at the 2010 Junior Olympic Championships, Martin finished third in the Junior D division all-around with a score of 38.300. Her third-place finish included second on vault and fourth on floor.
