Seven Huskers in First Coaches? Panel Rankings

James Green leads seven Husker wrestlers who are ranked in the NCAA Coaches’ Panel Rankings, released on Thursday.

The rankings are the first of three that will be released to help determine seeding for the NCAA Championships, March 20-22, in Oklahoma City, Okla.

Green holds the top spot at 157 pounds following his triumph over then-No. 1 Derek St. John of Iowa on Saturday night. Green, a junior, is 22-0 this season with an 8-0 mark in duals and five wins over ranked opponents. The two-time All-American has four pins, three technical falls and five major decisions during the 2013-14 campaign.

Robert Kokesh (174) and Jake Sueflohn (149) are each ranked fourth in their respective weight classes to round out Nebraska’s wrestlers in the top five. Kokesh is 24-1 this season and has a perfect 9-0 record in dual competition. He leads the team in dual points with 46 and is tied for first in pins with eight. In addition, Kokesh has three technical falls and six major decisions this season.

Sueflohn heads into the weekend with a 22-3 record, which includes an 8-1 mark in duals. Sueflohn leads the team in major decisions with nine, while achieving three pins and two technical falls during the season.

Redshirt freshman TJ Dudley rounds out the top 10 at 184 pounds in the first Coaches’ Panel Rankings. Dudley is 20-4 this season, with an 8-1 record in duals. He has seven pins and five major decisions.

Tim Lambert (125), Austin Wilson (165) and Collin Jensen (HWT) also earned spots in the poll for Nebraska. Lambert, ranked 11th in his weight class, is 16-6 on the season, with a 7-2 dual record.

Wilson is No. 21 at 165 pounds at 15-8 this season. The sophomore Nebraska native has two pins, four technical falls and one major decision in 2013-14.

Jensen is 22nd at heavyweight and has compiled a 16-8 record, while registering five pins and three major decisions.
