Huskers Finish Sixth in Nevada

Primm, Nev. - Scott Willman tied for fifth at the Jackrabbit Invitational on Tuesday, leading the Nebraska men's golf team to a sixth-place finish.

The Huskers shot 297 in the final round to go along with their 296 in the first round and their season-best 283 in the second round. The Jackrabbit Invitational is the first time the Huskers have broken 300 in all three rounds of a tournament since the 2011 FAU Spring Break Invitational. Additionally, Nebraska's 876 total marks a season best.

Willman fired a final-round 70 despite double-bogeying the first and 18th holes. He used eight birdies to go along with two bogeys in the middle 16-hole stretch. Willman's tie-for-fifth finish marks his season best and the first time a Husker has produced a top-5 result since Manuel Lavin achieved a runner-up finish at the Fairway Club Invitational in September. Willman shot 3-under-par 213 for the tournament.

Lavin came in with the second-best Husker score of the tournament, finishing 17th. The sophomore added a 74 to the NU total on Tuesday for a three-round score of 217. On Monday, Lavin carded rounds of 74 and 69 for his 1-over-par total.

Jordan Reinertson tied for 32nd at the Jackrabbit Invitational, posting 4-over-par 76 in the final round. The tie-for-32nd marks a career-best finish for Reinertson. The junior paced his way to a 74 and 72 on the first day, putting his 54-hole total at 222.

Ross Dickson shot a 77 on Tuesday and tied for 37th. The highlight of the freshman's round was an eagle on the par-5 seventh. Like Reinertson, Dickson produced the best finish of his career. Dickson's 75 and 72 in the first two rounds gave him a total of 224 for the tournament.

Junior Neil Dufford tied for 75th after shooting 237 at the Jackrabbit Invitational. Dufford shot an 80 on Tuesday to go along with his 81 and 76 on Monday. Ryan Grassel, who was playing as an individual, tied for 55th. The sophomore shot 76 in the final round for a three-round score of 228.

UMKC's Korbin Kuehn edged out Idaho's Sean McMullen by two strokes for the individual title, firing 11-under-par 205. The Vandals, however, took home the team championship by four strokes over the Kangaroos.

The Huskers return to action March 23-25 at the Denver Desert Shootout in Goodyear, Ariz.
