Normal, Ill. - The Nebraska men's golf team is in 13th place at the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate after shooting 621 through two rounds on Saturday at the Weibring Golf Club.
The Huskers, playing in their third event of the fall campaign, improved by 19 strokes from the first round to the second round. NU compiled 320 strokes in the opening round, and then added 301 to their total in the second round.
Scott Willman led the Huskers on the first day and sits in a tie for 29th with 18 holes to play. Willman, a senior, opened with a 77 and followed it up with a 75 in the afternoon. His 36-hole total is 152.
Neil Dufford is tied for 53rd after two rounds at the Weibring Golf Club. The junior showed improvement for the first to second round, carding 82 and 74, respectively. Dufford is at 156 heading into the final round.
Ross Dickson and Kevin Gillick are tied for 57th after the first two rounds of the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate. Dickson and Gillick, both newcomers to the Husker squad, posted 81s in the first round and followed it up with 76s in the second round. They are currently one stroke behind Dufford, at 157.
Manuel Lavin is in 65th place after producing 81 and 78 on Saturday. Lavin shot 81 and 78 in the first and second round, respectively for a total of 159.
Leading the team competition is Big Ten foe Illinois, who is a 570 through two rounds. The Fighting Illini fired back-to-back 285s on Saturday to take the lead. Luke Guthrie of Illinois leads the individual competition after 135 strokes.
