The Nebraska swimming and diving team kicked off their first season in the Big Ten on Friday afternoon in a dual that saw the Cream team defeat the Scarlets, 140-128. The dual was close throughout, with each team winning seven events. The win pulls the Cream squad to 4-4 in the all-time series.
The Cream were led by Shannon Guy who won two events on the day (100-yard breast, 100-yard fly). Ariel Weech, Morgan Flannigan and Katie Davis also picked up wins for the cream squad.
The Scarlet's Bailey Pons won two events on the day in the 200-yard freestyle and the 500-yard freestyle. Ellan Dufour of the Scarlet also won the 100-yard backstroke.
The Huskers' next event takes place next Saturday, October 8th at 10 a.m., at the annual Alumni Meet.
The Huskers begin their regular season October 22 when the South Dakota State Jackrabbits come to the Devaney Center for the first dual of the year.
