Three Huskers Earn NTCA Academic Honors

The National Ten Pin Coaches Association announced on Monday its annual All-Academic Teams for the 2010-11 school year. Three Huskers were honored among the 123 players from 29 institutions.

Senior Danielle van der Meer was honored on the 2011 Academic All NTCA Third-Team. The Hilversum, Netherlands native was a sociology major at Nebraska before graduation and exhaustion of her NCAA eligibility.

Juniors Valerie Calberry and Kristina Mickelson were each selected to the 2010-11 Academic All-NTCA Team, as well.

Calberry, a native of Brampton, Ontario, Canada is a Nutrition, Exercise, and Health Sciences major. Mickelson earned the accolade for her coursework in Criminology and Criminal Justice.

All NCAA bowlers that compile a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.40 during 2010-11 are eligible for the All-Academic Teams. The first, second and third team designations were allotted to those student-athletes that drew the most voting support for the NTCA's All-America teams.
