The Nebraska men's tennis team will kick off the 2010 fall season this weekend when they travel to Charlottesville, Va., to participate in the UVa Fall Classic. The three day event begins on Friday, Sept. 10, and runs through Sunday, Sept. 12. This year will mark the third straight season the Huskers have opened their fall season at the UVa Classic.
Fresh off their first NCAA Tournament berth last spring, the Huskers will send all eight returning players to the opening tournament including Christopher Aumueller, Taylor Boney, Drew Freeman, Benedikt Lindheim, Calin Paar, Eric Sock, Andre Stenger and Brandon Videtich.
Last fall, both Aumueller and Lindheim had impressive debuts at the Virginia tournament by collecting third place finishes in each of their respective brackets. Playing in the A-1 singles bracket, Aumueller collected three victories and defeated Jesus Bandres (East Tennessee St.) 6-2, 7-6, for third place, while Lindheim defeated former Husker Jaime Trenite in his third place match in the B bracket.
First round matches begin on Friday at 8 a.m. For the most current bracket updates throughout the tournament click on the link at the top of the page, or check back to Huskers.com for results at the end of each day.
