The No. 36 Nebraska women's tennis team heads to Austin, Texas, this week for the Big 12 Championships. The Huskers earned a third-place finish in the conference after a pair of wins last weekend, finishing with a 9-2 conference record. It was Nebraska's highest-ever finish, tying with the 2005 team that also went 9-2 and finished third in the conference. With the third seed in the tournament, the Huskers received a first-round bye and will play the winner of No. 6 Texas Tech and No. 11 Missouri on Friday. NU defeated both teams already this season.

The Huskers finished the regular season with a 20-4 record, setting a school record for wins in a season. NU defeated No. 37 Oklahoma and No. 57 Oklahoma State last weekend to reach the 20-win plateau, and ended the regular season on a three match winning streak.

Nebraska made it to the semifnals in last year's Big 12 Championships after earning a four-seed an a first-round bye. NU lost to eventual Big 12 Champions Baylor 4-0 in the semis.

Huskers Climb to No. 36 in Rankings
Nebraska is ranked No. 36 in the latest ITA rankings, its highest ranking since the 2006 season. The Huskers have a 7-4 record against ranked opponents this season, including three straight in their final three regular season matches. Sophomore Mary Weatherholt is ranked No. 70 in the singles rankings.

Four Huskers Named to Academic All-Big 12 Team
Four Huskers were named to the Academic All-Big 12 First Team, which was released on Tuesday. Senior Wiveca Swarting and sophomores Madeleine Geibert, Jennifer Holmberg and Mary Weatherholt all made the list. It was the third straight year that Swarting has made the first team, while the three sophomores each made their first appearance on the academic All-Big 12 team.
