Walnut, Calif. ? After competing at the Mt. SAC Relays on Friday, the Nebraska distance squad moved to the Beach Invitational on Saturday, while the Husker jumpers returned to Hilmer Lodge Stadium for the invitational division of the high jump at the Mt. SAC Relays.<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>
Along with setting a personal best in the 1,500 meters on Friday night at the Mt. SAC Relays, Ashley Miller dropped her PR in the 800 meters on Saturday at the Beach Invitational. Running in a field of 65, Miller bettered her previous best of 2:10.10 with a fourth-place time of 2:09.30. Blaise Rewaka followed with nearly a personal best of his own, as he won the men’s 800 in 1:49.94, just short of his PR of 1:49.66.
Blaire Dinsdale added a personal best for NU in the 400-meter hurdles, as the sophomore placed 12th in the field of 33 with a time of 1:02.76. The time improved on her previous best of 1:02.82. Kyle Custer rounded out the distance squad with a third-place time of 9:11.04 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase
In the invitational high jump at the Mt. SAC Relays, Epley Bullock and Paul Hamilton each posted the top collegiate jump in the field. Bullock cleared 6-0 3/4 to finished runner up to Mexico’s Romary Rifka, who cleared 6-2 3/4. On the men’s side, Hamilton leapt 7-0 1/2 to finish sixth, while Tora Harris of Asics won the meet with a jump of 7-4 1/2.
The Huskers will be back on the road next week when they compete at both the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, and the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa. Check out Huskers.com for more information.
