Tuesday Preview: The Huskers (7-7) bring a four-game win streak into Tuesday’s contest with the Jackrabbits following a sweep of Houston Baptist over the weekend. Nebraska relied on strong starting pitching, as the trio of Casey Hauptman, Michael Mariot and Tom Lemke allowed just seven hits over 22 innings of work. Sophomore Sean Yost will look to continue that streak of strong starting spots when he takes the hill on Tuesday. Yost is 1-1 on the season, but has not pitched since taking the loss in the opener at No. 14 UCLA on March 5.
Sophomore third baseman Cody Asche keyed the Husker offense over the weekend, hitting .500 (6-for-12) with three homers and nine RBIs on the weekend. Asche is hitting .400 over the last 10 contests, raising his season average to .327. Right fielder Adam Bailey leads the Huskers in all three triple crown categories, hitting .413 with four homers and 15 RBIs.
South Dakota State (8-4) comes into the week with an 8-4 record, as they won 2-for-3 games at a tournament in Minneapolis over the weekend. The Jackrabbits defeated host Minnesota, 6-4, in 10 innings on Sunday and have won six of nine, including a 3-2 win at No. 14 Arkansas on March 9. Freshman left-hander Shane Kraemer (1-0, 2.70 ERA) will start for SDSU.
