Huskers Travel to No. 25 Wisconsin

The No. 66 Nebraska men's tennis team returns to the court for the first time in over two weeks on Thursday, Feb. 11, when it travels to Madison, Wis., to take on the No. 25 Wisconsin Badgers at the Nielson Tennis Center with first serve set for 4 p.m. The Huskers are looking to bounce back against the nationally ranked Badgers after dropping their last two matches against No. 31 Minnesota and Denver. NU will enter the match with an overall record of 3-2, while Wisconsin owns a 6-1 record on the season.
The match against Wisconsin will mark the fourth time the two schools have played as NU holds a 1-2 mark against the Badgers. Thursday's match is the first road match for NU this season. The Huskers will continue on the road after Thursday's match when they take on Michigan State on Feb. 19, and Western Michigan on Feb. 20.

Van Impe, Aumueller Off to Impressive Starts

Two of the hottest Huskers entering Thursday's match are No. 30 Christopher Aumueller and No. 91 Francois Van Impe. Neither player has lost a singles match this season, while both are contributing heavily on the doubles court. Aumueller owns a 4-0 record while playing at the Huskers No. 1 singles spot. The sophomore from Germany is also part of the Huskers No. 1 doubles duo where he and senior David Bendheim have a record of 3-2. Van Impe is as equally impressive as he owns a 5-0 mark while playing at the No. 2, 3 and 4 spots for NU. In doubles Van Impe and sophomore Benedikt Lindheim have a perfect 4-0 record while playing at the No. 3 doubles spot.

Freshman Steps Up for NU

Freshman Eric Sock is off to a solid start in his first season at the collegiate level for the Huskers. The Lincoln native has provided the Huskers with some key victories at the back end of the Husker lineup. Sock owns a 3-1 overall record on the season, while playing at the No. 5 and 6 spots. He has also contributed in doubles going 1-1 with Calin Paar at the No. 2 position.

Last Time Out: Huskers Defeat Radford, Drop Two Straight
The Nebraska men's tennis team defeated its first ranked opponent of the season on Friday, Jan. 22, when they dominated No. 56 Radford 7-0 at the Nebraska Tennis Center. The win improved the Huskers record to 3-0 on the year. NU won each singles match in straight sets and swept all three doubles matches in route to the victory.
The Huskers weren't as fortunate in their next two matches dropping two close matches to No. 31 Minnesota and Denver. In their match against Minnesota, the Huskers fell behind after dropping the doubles point for the first time of the season and were not able to catch the Gophers falling by the score of 4-3. Aumueller, Van Impe and Lindheim all won in singles for NU, while Lindheim and Van Impe were the only doubles team to collect a victory.
Against Denver, NU won at the No. 1, 2 and 3 singles spots, but was unable to capture the victory after dropping the doubles point earlier in the dual and losing at the bottom three singles spots. The loss dropped the Huskers' record to 3-2 on the season.

Scouting the Badgers
The Wisconsin Badgers entered the 2010 season as one of the favorites to win the Big 10 conference. The Badgers sport a deep lineup with two players ranked inside the top 20 nationally, including No. 6 Moritz Baumann and No. 20 Marek Michalicka. While Baumann has seen limited action this season, Michalicka as led the Badgers while playing at the No. 1 spot where he owns a 4-0 record. As a team, Wisconsin holds a 6-1 dual record and has two victories over ranked teams this season, including an upset over then-ranked No. 13 Florida State earlier in the season. Wisconsin is coached by Greg Van Emburgh, who is in his fourth season as head coach of the Badgers.
