Murray, Ky. - The Nebraska rifle team fell to the Murray State Racers Sunday afternoon, 4,618-4,597. The match was the first for the Huskers since winter break.
Amanda Jeffries and Ryann McGough led NU with 1,157 totals. Jeffries paced the Huskers (6-4) with a 576 in smallbore, while McGough led the team with a 583 in air rifle. Jeffries added a 581 in air rifle and McGough a 574 in smallbore.
Christine Costello (569) and Janine Dutton (560) rounded out the smallbore lineup for the Big Red, who finished with a 2,279 team score in smallbore. In air rifle, Dutton shot 579 and Joyce Kim fired a 575, as the Huskers posted a 2,318 team score.
Sheena Mahloch fired a career-high 581 in air rifle in an individual effort.
The Racers' Kasey Meyer took the smallbore title with a 580, while teammate Emily Quiner captured the air rifle title with a 590.
NU is back in action at home Saturday, Jan. 23 against TCU.
