The Nebraska rifle team picked up victories over Memphis and Mississipi this weekend in Oxford, Miss. Nebraska defeated Memphis on Saturday, 4,616-4,574, and then took care of Mississippi on Sunday, 4,608-4,582.
Christine Costello led the Huskers, who improved their season record to 5-1. Costello captured the individual overall title in both matches. Against Memphis, Costello scored 577 in smallbore to lead all competitors, while Ryann McGough led the field in air rifle with a 586 mark. Amanda Jeffries contributed a 574 in smallbore and 584 in air rifle. Janine Dutton also scored well with a 571 in smallbore and 585 in air rifle.
Costello also earned the top smallbore score against Mississippi with a 578 performance, and tied for the best air rifle score at 584. Joyce Kim and Katie Kostal added a 583 in air rifle, although Kostal's did not count toward the team score. Amanda Jeffries scored 569 in smallbore.
The Huskers take next weekend off before a trip to Texas on Nov. 14 for a matchup against UTEP.
