Charlottesville, Va.--- The Nebraska men's tennis team continued play on Saturday at the Virginia Ranked Plus One Invitational in Charlottesville, Va. The Huskers had an impressive showing on day two capturing third place in the A-3 doubles bracket and advancing one player to the semifinals of the A-2 singles bracket.
Sophomore Christopher Aumueller (Neb.) continued his hot play by beating No. 88 Thibaut Charron (VCU) in the quarterfinals of the A-2 singles bracket, 7-6, 6-1. Aumueller will face off against Sanam Singh (UVA) in the semifinals on Sunday. Singh enters the tournament as the ninth rated tennis player in the nation.
Aumueller was also part of a doubles team that captured third place in the A-3 doubles bracket. Aumueller team up with fellow sophomore Benedikt Lindheim (Neb.) to defeat Fanselow and Chometter (ODU) 8-4 to secure the third place spot.
Francois Van Impe bounced back from his first round loss to take down Brennan Boyajian (UNC) in the consolation bracket. Van Impe will play Alex Musialek (Kentucky) on Sunday.
A day after beating the 70th ranked player in the nation, Calin Paar (Neb.) fell to No. 29 Reid Carleton (Duke) in the quarterfinals. Paar moves on to the fifth place bracket and will take on Vincente Joli (BSU) on Sunday.
