Five Huskers Earn ITA Scholar Athlete Honors

The Nebraska women’s tennis team has been named an All-Academic Team by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, an honor that is given to teams who have a cumulative grade-point-average above a 3.20. In addition to the team recognition, five Huskers were named ITA Scholar Athletes, awarded to individuals who achieve a GPA of 3.50 or above.

Former Husker Ashley Finnegan along with current Huskers Stephanie Evans, Jennifer Holmberg, Madeleine Geibert and Mary Weatherholt each earned ITA Scholar Athlete honors. In addition to having at least a 3.50 GPA, ITA Scholar Athletes must also be a varsity letterwinner and be enrolled at the school for at least two semesters.

The Huskers start their fall season on Sept. 18, as the team will send three players to the Midland Invitational in Midland, Texas. The spring season for Nebraska starts on Jan. 26 with a match against Creighton.
