Manhattan, Kan. ? Saturday afternoon the Nebraska track and field team took a small group of athletes down to Manhattan, Kan., for the Ward Haylett Invitational. Sam Haase and Roxi Grizzle made the most of the final meet of the regular season, as each qualified for the NCAA Midwest Regional meet in Norman, Okla., on May 29-30.
Haase entered the men’s high jump at the 6-8 3/4 bar, clearing on his second attempt. The Norfolk, Neb., native then cleared the regional standard of 6-10 3/4 on his first attempt, before bowing out at the 7-0 1/2 bar.
