One may ask how the Husker spent their day on Friday upon hearing that Friday's game was postponed. During the day, the Huskers conducted a 90-minute workout in the batting cages, while the pitchers went to the football bubble to do their conditioning. The practice was culminated by staff batting practice, where equipment manager Chris McQuillan and head trainer Jerry Weber turned in an impressive rounds to the delight of the team . We were worried about Weber when he called for his assistant Ryan Holleman for treatment after his round of BP for a sore shoulder, but Weber was OK. The team went to dinner at Texas Roadhouse after the workout and then many of the players either stayed in the hotel studying, playing cards of video games or spent time with the families who make the trek to Lubbock. The team was up by 8:30 a.m. today and at the ballpark by 11 a.m. for today's game
11:45 a.m.
Welcome to Dan Law Field in Lubbock, Texas, for the start of Big 12 action. It is about 38 degrees at the ballpark about 75 minutes before today's first pitch. We talked to HuskerVision's Spencer Millard this morning about the keys to staying warm and shooting action video during these types of days and he passed along the following advice: 1) Dressing in layers...spencer believes that this is THE MOST IMPORTANT aspect of dealing with the cold 2) Proper hand warmers. The good thing about being in Lubbock is that there is a Wal-Mart next to the hotel and spencer has shopped diligently for this trip 3) Moving as much as possible, as he will shoot from different parts of the ballpark to not only provide the best footage, but also to keep warm. Spencer was also the unfortunate person who drew the short straw in shooting all 18 inning of last Saturday's twinbill.
