Nine Huskers Named to Big 12 Honor Roll

The Nebraska women’s tennis team placed nine members on the Big 12 Commissioner’s Fall Honor Roll, awarded to those who posted a grade-point-average of at least 3.0 during the fall semester.

 

Seniors Marianne Cicmanec and Ashley Finnegan earned their fourth and fifth honors, respectively, to the list, and junior Wiveca Swarting also made her fifth appearance on the list.

 

Sophomores Jana Albers, Abby Buxton and Stephanie Evans and freshmen Madeleine Geibert, Jennifer Holmberg and Mary Weatherholt rounded out the list of NU women’s tennis players on the list. Holmberg was one of 38 Nebraska student-athletes to post a perfect 4.0 GPA during the semester.

 

A total of 324 Nebraska student-athletes earned spots on the 2008 Fall Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

 

The NU women’s tennis team has gotten off to a fast start, as it has won all five of its matches so far this season, including four sweeps. The Huskers have a pair of matches this weekend, against Nebraska-Kearney on Friday, Feb. 20, and against South Alabama on Sunday, Feb. 22.
