Baltimore, Md. ? The No. 2 Nebraska bowling team finished second in a nail-biting tournament hosted by MorganState at Perry Hall Lanes in Baltimore, Md., this weekend. NU fell only six pins short of No. 1 Vanderbilt, who topped the competition with a score of 8,803.
When the event was completed, we were told that we had won,” Nebraska Coach Bill Straub said. “But before the trophies were presented they found out they had a clerical error in mathematics and sure enough we got second.”
Despite the close team competition, Nebraska placed four Huskers in the top 12, including junior Cassandra Leuthold, who claimed her seventh career tournament title with an average of 211. Freshman Erin McCarthy earned her second all-tournament team honor at the Morgan State Invitational with a 205 average for second place.
