Fort Atkinson, Wis. - Three Huskers claimed top-three finishes as the No. 3 Nebraska bowling team captured its first tournament title of the season at the Warhawk Classic in Fort Atkinson, Wis., this afternoon.<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>
NU led the team standings during the entire three-day competition before earning the Warhawk Classic title with a pinfall of 11,724. No. 10 Minnesota-Mankato placed second with a pinfall of 11,424, while No. 15 Wisconsin-Whitewater finished third with a pinfall of 11,033.
<?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>Nebraska also claimed three of the top-three all-tournament team spots. Junior Cassandra Leuthold earned her fifth career tournament title with a 200.20 average. Valerie Calberry, a freshman from Brampton, Ontario, and competitor for the Canadian National Team, placed second with a 192.80 average. Freshman Danielle van der Meer, a native of the Netherlands and a member of the Holland National Team, claimed third place with a score of 191.70.
The Huskers will return to action next weekend at the Maverick Challenge in Chicago, Ill.
