Thirty-two teams comprise the Morgan State Invitational field, including No. 3 Vanderbilt, No. 5 Central Missouri State and No. 6 Fairleigh Dickinson.

Five Bowlers Earn Big 12 Honor Roll Honors
The <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>Nebraska bowling team placed five athletes on the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll for their academic achievements during the 2007 fall semester. Kaleena Henning, Kayla Rhoades, Katie Ann Sopp, Kayla Stram and former Husker Emma-Louise Butchard were among the 298 Nebraska student-athletes to earn the prestigious honor.

Henning, a junior sociology major from North Platte, Neb., was one of four bowlers to earn the distinction for the first time. Other first-time honorees were freshman Rhoades, a biological sciences major from LaFayette, Ind., Stram, a veterinary science and biochemistry major from Grand Rapids, Minn., and Sopp, a Circle Pines, Minn. native.

Butchard made her second appearance on the list. A major from Edinburgh, Scotland, Butchard went back to her native country to pursue a graduate school opportunity.

The honor roll features student-athletes who achieved a 3.0 or higher grade-point average during the 2007 fall semester.  Thirty-five Nebraska athletes earned a perfect 4.0 GPA.<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>

Last Meet Repeat: No. 1 Huskers Finish Third at Mid-Winter Classic
Sophomore Cassandra Leuthold placed third individually as the No. 1 Nebraska bowling team also finished third at the Mid-Winter Classic at Jonesboro bowling lanes on Sunday, Feb. 3.

NU recorded an 11-3 record en route to placing third behind Sacred Heart (14-1) and Central Missouri State (12-3), respectively.

"There were a series of maintenance and mechanical errors at the tournament this weekend," Head Coach Bill Straub said. "The team is doing just fine regardless of the results. Whether we finished first, second or third, we are still doing just fine. There were just a few mechanical errors."

The Mid-Winter Classic

was judged according to wins and losses. However, Nebraska was unable to play Morgan State in the opening round because Morgan State did not have enough competitors. Instead of giving Nebraska the win based on forfeit, the Mid-Winter Classic did not acknowledge the Morgan State game for Nebraska. Every team in the tournament played fifteen games except for Nebraska. If NU had gotten the win, it would have finished second overall.
