Lincoln?Five former members of the Husker track and field program will be among 11 student-athletes who will receive diplomas from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln Saturday during commencement exercises at the BobDevaneySportsCenter.
The group is led by two-time NCAA All-American and three-time Big 12 champion Jenny Green, who finished up her pole vaulting career for the Huskers in 2006. Green, who will receive her degree in advertising, has been stellar in the classroom throughout her career. She is a two-time CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-American, a three-time NCAA Division I Track Coaches Association All-Academic Team member and a two-time member of the Academic All-Big 12 First Team.
In addition to Green, several other Huskers who boasted outstanding academic careers will graduate on Saturday, including hurdler Justine Roach, a three-time Academic All-Big 12 selection, and pole vaulter Jessie Graff, who set the Nebraska indoor school record in the pole vault in 2005 and is a two-time member of the Academic All-Big 12 Team.
Wrapping up the group is hurdler Courtney Jones and multi-event athlete Corlan Vonderschmidt. Jones was a member of the school-record holding 4x110-meter shuttle hurdle relay team and finished runner-up in the 110-meter hurdles at the Big 12 Championships in 2005. Vonderschmidt was a two-time Academic All-Big 12 selection as a multi-event competitor in the decathlon and heptathlon.
