Whites Win 18-10 Slugfest

Lincoln -- Nick Sullivan and Thad Weber combined for six hits and 11 RBIs, as the White squad took the decisive third game of the Red/White Series, 18-10, Friday afternoon at Hawks Field.

Sullivan, who went 3-for-6, provided the game's biggest blow, a three-run homer off Red starter Drew Schwab, as the Reds scored seven times in the bottom of the second to overcome a 5-0 deficit. Sullivan also had a three-run double in the ninth, as the Whites scored seven runs in the last two innings to blow open a one-run game.

Weber erupted for a trio of hits as well, driving in five runs and scoring twice as part of 15-hit barrage. Craig Corriston also had two hits and scored three runs, as the No. 1-5 hitters combined to score 12 runs.

Tim Scott (1-0) earned the victory in relief, while Erik Bird notched the save, allowing one run over three innings of work, while fanning three

Jake Opitz led the Red squad with a 4-for-5 afternoon and three RBIs, finishing a triple short of the cycle. On the week. Opitz led all players by hitting .500 on the week and scoring seven runs. Redshirt freshman John Lee also enjoyed a solid afternoon at the plate, going 3-for-6 in a losing effort.
