Went 2-for-4 and was hit by a pitch in a start at No. 12 Missouri on May 18 ? Went 1-for-5 against Creighton on May 13 with nine assists, the most by a Husker infielder in nine seasons ? 2007: Cotton redshirted in his first season as a Husker ? Spent the summer playing for the Nevada (Mo.) Griffons and Coach John Hill.

Lincoln Southwest High School: Cotton was a four-year starter for Coach Doug Kaltenberger, helping the Silver Hawks from the program’s inception in 2003 ? Totaled a school-record 128 hits during his career ? Led the Silver Hawks to a 22-7 record in 2006, ranking among state leaders with a .337 average, 27 runs scored and 23 RBIs en route to second-team All-Nebraska honors from the Omaha World-Herald ? Garnered all-state honors in each of his four varsity seasons, highlighted by a .400 average with 22 RBIs and 30 runs scored in 2005 ? Played American Legion ball in the summer, leading his team to a 43-14 record as a senior and the first appearance in the American Legion World Series by a Lincoln team since 1955 ? Batted .370 with 18 doubles and 15 stolen bases during his final campaign ? Lettered in football and basketball for three seasons and was a finalist for Nebraska Boys High School Athlete of the Year in 2005-06 ?
