Bryan, Texas - The Nebraska women's golf team produced its best round of the tournament by closing with a 320 to climb five spots in the team standings and finish 11th (330-329-320-979) at the Texas A&M Mo-Morial at the Traditions Club in Bryan, Texas, on Sunday.
The Huskers surged past Big 12 Conference foes Kansas State (984) and Iowa State (988) in the final team standings, while fellow league opponent and the hosts from Texas A&M won the tournament title. The Aggies finished the 54-hole event at 923 to tie with Arkansas, but A&M won the playoff to determine the team champion. TCU finished third at 935, while SMU closed the three-day tournament in fourth place at 942.
Junior Chrissie McArdle posted the top individual finish for the Huskers, closing the three rounds at 241 after firing a final-round 79 on Sunday. McArdle finished in a tie for 36th place among the 96 individuals in the tournament.
Senior Stephanie Ruiz added a tie for 44th place after producing an 80 on the par-72, 6,307-yard Traditions Club layout on Sunday to finish at 244 for the tournament. Sophomore Elli Brown managed an 81 to finish one stroke behind Ruiz at 245 in a tie for 49th.
Senior Sara Sackett added an 80 on Sunday to finish at 249 in a tie for 63rd, while Jackie Beste added her best round of the tournament with an 85 to finish in tie for 83rd at 261.
The Huskers return to action at the Mountain View Collegiate in Tucson, Ariz., March 25-26.
