Norman, Okla. - The Nebraska women's golf team finished in seventh place at the 16-team Susie Maxwell Berning Classic at the Trails Golf Club on Monday afternoon. Nebraska managed a 315 in the final round of the 54-hole tournament to finish at 942 in the Huskers' final regular-season event of the year.
Missouri won the team title with a three-round total of 889, 10 strokes ahead of second-place Tulsa (899). Baylor finished third at 914.
Nebraska Coach Robin Krapfl said the Huskers struggled at times during the two-day event, but she remained positive about NU's chances heading into the Big 12 Tournament.
"We never really got it going during the tournament," Krapfl said. "We lacked some consistency, even though our overall scores were relatively consistent throughout the tournament, going 314-313-315. We hope we can rebound a little bit from what we've done here. We need to fine tune some things and just put together three solid rounds at the Big 12 Championships."
Sophomore Chrissie McArdle posted the Huskers' top finish in Oklahoma by firing back-to-back rounds of 75 on Monday. McArdle finished in a tie for 20th overall with a three-round total of 231, 10 strokes behind individual medalist Lacey Jones from SMU, who won the tournament with a 54-hole score of 221.
Senior Merynn Ito added a tie for 23rd place at 233 with rounds of 78, 77 and 78 during the tournament. Freshman Elli Brown gave the Huskers three top-25 finishers by adding a 234 and a five-way tie for 25th.
Nebraska returns to action at the Big 12 Championships in Austin, Texas, April 22-24.
