Rogers, Ark. - The Nebraska women's golf team moved up one spot to eighth place in the final standings by firing a 307 in the final round of the Lady Razorback Invitational at the Pinnacle Country Club on Tuesday.
The Huskers finished the three day tournament with a score of 935 over 54 holes, trailing the team champions from Iowa State by 30 strokes. Texas A&M finished 11 strokes behind the Cyclones with at 916, while the hosts from Arkansas were 15 shots off the pace with a 920.
After struggling on the opening day of the tournament, the Huskers closed with a pair of solid rounds on Monday (305) and Tuesday. Nebraska's 307 in the third round marked its lowest final-round team total of the fall season.
"We didn't get off to the best start, but we played solid for most of the round," Coach Robin Krapfl said. "It was our best final round of the year, so that shows that we are making some improvements. We made some mistakes, but overall we played some solid golf today."
Sophomore Chrissie McArdle produced Nebraska's top round on Tuesday with a three-over-par 75. McArdle's strong second and third rounds helped her move into a tie for 19th place as Nebraska's top individual finisher in the event. The Eden Prairie, Minn., native finished at 232 over three rounds.
Senior Merynn Ito added a 76 in the third round to finish in a tie for 29th place with a three-round total of 235.
True freshman Elli Brown and junior Chelsea Gehring added strong rounds by each shooting 78. Gehring finished in a tie for 58th overall with a three-round score of 241, while Brown managed a tie for 68th with a 243.
Redshirt freshman Allison Stewart, who entered the final round in a tie for 20th, struggled with an 84 on Tuesday to finish a tie for 49th place overall with a 239.
