NU Suffers First Loss of Husker Fall Classic

Lincoln? The Nebraska softball team dropped its first game of the Husker Fall Classic on Sunday morning, falling to ColoradoState, 4-0.

Freshman right-hander Jordan Keen took the loss, allowing three runs on seven hits in 3.2 innings. Sophomore right-hander Jaime Borg threw well in relief, pitching 3.1 scoreless innings and allowing only three hits.

A three-run fourth inning put the Rams ahead for good and they added an insurance run in the top of the seventh to secure their first victory of the tournament.

Offensively, Nebraska pounded out 11 hits, but left 12 runners on base. The missed opportunities began in the first inning when Nebraska loaded the bases on consecutive singles by senior Anne Steffan, junior Jessica Yoachim and senior Sheena Lawrick. The Huskers were unable to plate a run, however, as junior Trisha Tannahill grounded into a double play and fellow junior Katie Linke grounded out to end the threat.

Lawrick led NU with a 3-for-3 effort, including a walk. Tannahill and Linke each had two hits for the Huskers.

Nebraska wraps up its fall season with a game against Nebraska-Omaha, set for 5:30 p.m. at Bowlin Stadium.
