Eight Bowlers Named to Big 12 Honor Roll

Lincoln ? A total of eight Husker bowlers were honored on Monday, as they were selected to the Big 12 Commissioner’s Spring Honor Roll. Six of 11 bowlers on the 2004 national championship roster, as well as former Husker Suzanne Medwell were among 263 Nebraska student-athletes who were recognized for their success in the classroom.

Among the honorees during the spring semester include senior Christina Perez (history), who is making her third consecutive appearance on the honor roll. Perez is the only senior on the 2004 Husker roster that won seven tournament titles en route to winning the first NCAA title in program history. Other honorees included freshman Amanda Burgoyne (general studies), sophomores Karla Engh (elementary education) and Jamie Martin (family and consumer science), freshman Mandy Pancoast (civil engineering) and Shannon Pluhowsky (family and consumer science). In all, four of the bowlers were members of NU’s national championship starting lineup, including Pluhowsky, who was named the MVP of the NCAA Championships.

The Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll recognizes student-athletes who earned a 3.0 GPA or higher during the previous semester. Overall, Nebraska had 263 student-athletes named to the fall honor roll, including 33 who produced perfect 4.0 grade-point averages during the spring semester.
