Four Huskers Earn All-Tournament Honors

Tallahassee, Fla. - Four Huskers were named to the 16-member Florida State Invitational All-Tournament team for their outstanding performances over the weekend. Nebraska's four All-Tournament selections were second only to tournament champion Florida State's five. The Seminoles' Jessica van der Linden was chosen as the tournament's Most Valuable Player.

Senior right-hander Peaches James was honored after compiling a 3-1 record over the weekend. James tossed three shutouts and did not allow an earned run in her 22 innings. James struck out 32 in holding opponents to a .097 batting average.

Junior Sheena Lawrick was named to the All-Tournament team after a stellar weekend at the plate. Lawrick hit .500 (9-for-18) and drove in seven runs in Nebraska's six games. Lawrick also scored seven runs and recorded six extra-base hits for a 1.000 slugging percentage.

Sophomore Trisha Tannahill made the team after finishing second among all players with a .556 average (10-for-18) at the tournament. Tannahill had a home run, a triple and a double and also scored five runs and drove in eight.

Senior Nicole Trimboli was NU's fourth All-Tournament team selection. Trimboli hit .400 (8-for-20) and drove in a team-high nine runs over the weekend. Trimboli also scored six runs and stole two bases.

Nebraska, which finished 5-1 at the tournament, hit .363 (57-for-157) in its six games, scoring 44 runs for an average of just over seven runs a game. In the circle, the Huskers allowed only two earned runs in 37 innings at the tournament.

NU returns to action at 7 p.m. (CST) on Wednesday, March 17, when it takes on UNLV at the Kia Klassic in Fullerton, Calif.
