NU Dominates Montana State, 7-0

Lincoln -- The No. 68 Nebraska women’s tennis team dominated Montana State, 7-0, Saturday morning to pick up its second win of the weekend. The Huskers, who improved to 2-0, won five of the six singles matches in straight sets and won all three doubles matches. Nebraska also extended its home winning streak against non-conference opponents to 48.

Seniors Leslie Harvey (2-0) and Anna Oehme (2-0) and sophomore Pamela Castillejos (2-0) cruised to easy wins. Harvey defeated Laurel Brown, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 2 singles, Oehme beat Katy Clarke, 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles and Castillejos defeated Ivette Duran, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4 singles.

Sophomore newcomer Milena Schulz-Gartner (1-1) picked up her first collegiate win with a 6-3, 6-2, victory over Vera Vasileva in the No. 1 singles contest. Sophomore Jennifer Cremieux (1-0) and senior Rebecca Harvey (1-0) also won their first matches of the season. Cremieux defeated Remy Clark 2-6, 6-0 (10-8) at No. 5 singles, and Harvey posted a 6-0, 6-3 win over Anna Hockett in the No. 6 contest.

The Huskers also dominated the doubles competition, as Rose Ketmayura and Leslie Harvey took an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles, Oehme and Schulz-Gartner recorded an 8-4 triumph at the No. 2 spot, and Cremieux and Castillejos won, 8-0, at No. 3 doubles.

NU continues a seven-match homestand Sunday when it takes on Illinois-Chicago at 10 a.m. at Woods Tennis Center.
