The Nebraska softball team went 2-0 Sunday at Bowlin Stadium to capture the Nebraska Fall Classic championship. The Huskers, who improved to 11-1 in fall exhibition games, defeated Colorado State, 4-1, before beating Kansas, 4-0, in the title game.
In the title game, Nebraska racked up 10 hits, as Amanda Buchholz, Nicole Trimboli, Trisha Tannahill and Jessica Yoachim all produced two hits. Peaches James was the winning pitcher, tossing a one-hit shutout and striking out eight Jayhawks in seven innings.
The Nebraska freshman played a big role in the first game. Yoachim led NU at the plate, going 3-for-3 with two runs scored, and freshman right-handed pitcher Summer Tobias was the winning in game one, as she allowed on run on five hits and struck out four in seven innings of work.
