Waco, Texas -- The No. 53 ranked Nebraska women's tennis team had its five-match winning streak snapped, losing to the No. 21 ranked Baylor Bears, 7-0.
Nebraska lost all doubles matches with Gitte Ostermann and Katarina Balan falling short of defeating No. 29 ranked Katja Kovac and Vida Mulec, 9-7. Leslie Harvey and Rose Ketmayura lost to Frida Borjesson and Patrica Graf, 8-3 at No. 2 doubles. At the three spot, Amy Frisch and Anna Oehme lost to Daria Potapova and Pola Stephen, 8-3.
Nebraska lost all six singles matches, with Frisch taking Borjesson to three sets before falling, 2-6, 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 4 singles. No. 1 singles Ostermann suffered her first lost of the season losing to Kovac, 6-4, 6-4. No. 2 singles Balan lost to Mulec, 6-0, 6-3. Graf, 6-3, 6-4 at No. 3 singles, defeated Harvey. No. 5 singles, Oehme lost to Potapova, 6-4, 6-1 and Ketmayura lost to Blahutiakova, 6-3, 6-1
The loss drops Nebraska to 7-2 overall and 1-2 in conference play, while Baylor moves to 7-2 on the season and 1-0 in Big 12.
In their next action, the Cornhuskers play host to Texas on March 8 and Colorado on March 9, 2002. The Texas A&M match begins at 10 a.m., while the Colorado match starts at 2 p.m.
