Porter Posts a Sixth-Place Finish at Bearkat Classic

Husker golfer Seth Porter fired a 213 at the Bearkat Classic on Tuesday to finish tied for sixth and to lead the Nebraska Men's Golf to a ninth place finish. The squad concluded the 10-team competition with a total score of 884. Over the two-day tournament, the Huskers shot rounds of 288, 294 and 302.

Kansas took home the championship with a three-round score of 859. Southwest Texas' Grant Yawn shot winning rounds of 68, 68, and 72 to receive medallist honors.

Sophomore Jim Troy, who led the Huskers with a fourth-place finish in last week's tournament, shot a 219 to tie for 18th. Meanwhile, sophomore Rob Arthur finished the tournament in 32nd after carding a 225. Sophomore Mike Vanier finished in 46th place with consistent rounds of 76, 76, and 77 for a total score of 229. After notching a 232 over 54 holes, freshman Justin Borzych concluded the tournament with a 50th-place finish.

The Huskers will travel to Missouri for the Southwest Missouri Invitational in Branson, Mo., on April 23-24.
