After grabbing a sixth-place finish at the Stevinson Ranch Invitational last week, the Nebraska men's golf team is back in action at the Bearkat Classic, hosted by Sam Houston State. The squad finished the first day in eighth place with a two-round score of 582 on Monday.
Arkansas-Little Rock leads the tournament with a first-day total of 573. Grant Yawn of Southwest Texas holds the individual lead after the first day with a score of 136.
Leading the Huskers is junior Seth Porter who is currently in a tie for fifth after posting a 139 on Monday. Sophomore Jim Troy is presently in 13th place with a score of 144. After firing a 149, sophomore Rob Arthur is in a tie for 31st place. Mike Vanier tallied a 152 and stands in a tie for 43rd place after 36 holes. Rounding out the Husker pack is sophomore Justin Borzych in a tie for 48th place after carding a 154 for the day.
The nine-team competition will conclude with the final 18 holes on Tuesday.
