Nebraska men's golf coach Larry Romjue wrapped up his 30th season as the golf coach at Nebraska, while his team finish 12th at the 2000 Big 12 Championships in Hutchinson, Kan. The Huskers shot a team score of 927, which placed them 76 shots behind team champion Oklahoma State. Leading the way for Nebraska was freshman Jim Troy who finished the tournament tied for 43rd place after carding a 231 during the tournament.
During the first day of competition, the Huskers fired a 304.Troy led the way for Nebraska, carding a 71 during monday's opening round, while teammate J.J. Sullivan carded a 75.
Monday's second round saw freshman Rob Arthur shoot a team-low 73, while sophomore Seth Porter fired a 76.
Tuesday morning saw Troy, Smith and Porter lead the team carding a 79 during the tournament's final session.
Oklahoma State won the team title with a score of 851, 11 shots over par. The Cowboys won with a 12 stroke advantage over the second-place team from Kansas. Colorado finished third, ten shots behind Kansas, and Texas finished fourth (876) behind Matt Brost's third-place 212.
OSU's Charles Howell carded a 10-under 200 to win the individual title, while teammate Edward Loar was even par with a 210 to finish runner-up in the 54 hole tournament.
