Manhattan, Kan.--The No. 65 Nebraska women's tennis team dropped its second-straight match today with a 6-3 loss to Kansas State. The loss drops NU to 14-5 overall and 2-4 in Big 12 conference play. The Huskers were hampered today by an injury to sophomore Ndali Ijomah, causing the team to forfeit two team points to the Wildcats.
In singles, junior Sandra Noetzel breezed through her match at No. 1, picking up her 10th consecutive singles victory, beating Anna Pamoulova, 6-1, 6-0. At No. 6, freshman Amy Frisch returned to her winning ways, after having her 11-match win streak snapped yesterday against Kansas, she defeated Natalia Farmer, 6-1, 7-6 (9-7).
In doubles, the duo of freshman Katarina Balan and sophomore Danica Hardy won their ninth-straight match at No. 3 by defeating Eva Novatna' and Farmer, 8-4.
The Huskers will return to action next Saturday, April 10, when they play host to Oklahoma State at 10 a.m. If weather permits, the Huskers will play outdoors at the Cather-Pound Tennis Courts located at 17th and Vine Streets.
