Huskers to Begin Postseason Play This Weekend

Lincoln - The No. 72 Nebraska women's tennis team will begin postseason play Thursday, April 29, when it travels to College Station, Texas, and the Varsity Tennis Center for the 1999 Big 12 Championships.

NU earned a No. 8 seed and will be matched up against the No. 9 seed Kansas State, at noon. If the Huskers defeat the Wildcats, they would take on the No. 1 seed in the tournament and the No. 7 team in the nation, Texas, on Friday, April 30, at 7 p.m.

In Nebraska's only meeting with Kansas State this season, the Huskers fell to the Wildcats, 6-3 in Manhattan on April 4. One notable to that match though was that sophomore Ndali Ijomah was injured, resulting in Nebraska to default two point to Kansas State.

Other Nebraska Notables
Five Huskers earned Academic All-Big 12 honors last week. Juniors Sandra Noetzel (advertising) and Gina Pelazini (elementary education), sophomores Ndali Ijomah (general studies) and Danica Hardy (advertising) and freshman Amy Frisch (biological sciences) were all named to the First team.

Noetzel returned to the ITA singles rankings last week, checking in at No. 74. The Hannover, Germany, native, is currently on a 15-match winn streak, including wins over No. 27 Kris Sell of Kansas and No. 53 Katja Kovac of Baylor.
