Lincoln - The No. 66 Nebraska women's tennis team defeated Montana 8-1 this morning at the Woods Tennis Center. The Huskers dropped just one match against Montana.
In singles, No. 1 junior Sandra Noetzel, ranked 57th nationally, took Jessica Redding in two sets, winning the match 6-2, 6-2. At No. 2 singles, Ndali Ijomah beat Jen Canuso 6-1, 6-4. Freshman Katarina Balan defeated Molly Sanders at No. 3 singles. The Husker's dominance continued at No. 4 singles with junior Gina Pelazini beating Kylie Wagner 6-1, 6-3. Sophomore Danica Hardy struggled through her match, losing fifth singles to Heather Hannan 7-5, 6-2. At No. 6, Amy Frisch closed out singles, beating Libby Catron 6-3, 2-6, 6-3.
In doubles, the No. 1 team of Noetzel and Ijomah defeated Canuso and Sanders 8-2. At No. 2, Frisch and Pelazini teamed up to defeat Redding and Wagner, 8-4, and at No. 3 doubles, Balan and Hardy beat Hannan and Catron 8-6.
With the win, Nebraska improves to 8-3 on the year. The Huskers return to action Friday, March 12, at the Woods Tennis Center against Missouri.
