Huskers Pick Up Road Victory

College Station, Texas--The No. 66 Nebraska women's tennis team improved to 4-1 on the year with a a 7-2 win over Sam Houston State on Friday in College Station, Texas.

In singles, freshman Katarina Balan picked up her third straight win defeating Lucie Marikova 6-2, 6-1, at No. 2 singles. Sophomore Ndali Ijomah also picked up her third victory in as many tries at No. 3 singles, beating Robyn Bassett 6-3, 6-1. At No. 4, junior Gina Pelazini defeated Magda Solcova 6-0, 6-3. Sophomore Danica Hardy picked up a win over Kim Donaldson 6-3, 6-2. At No. 6, freshman Amy Frisch domintated her match, defeating Amy Bannert 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles, the duo of Frisch and Pelazini defeated Marikova and Solcova 9-7, at No. 2 doubles. At No. 3, Balan and Hardy picked up their third victory of the year, beating Donaldson and Bannert 8-1.

Before returning back to Lincoln, the Huskers will take on Texas A&M, tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. in College Station, Texas.
