Huskers Round Out Final Day of NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Champiships - Huskers.com - Nebraska Athletics Official Web Site

Baton Rouge, La. -- In the final day of the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships the women's team placed ninth with a total of 21 points while the men placed 19th with a total of 14 points.

Throughout the day four Huskers competed in various field events and two competed in the finals of running events.

Freshman Becky Breisch placed eighth in the shot put this afternoon with a throw of 53-11. The event was the second that Breisch has competed in during the 2002 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Yesterday Breisch placed second in the discus.

Sophomore Carl Meyerscough placed eighth in the shot put with a throw of 62-9 1/2. Meyerscough passed on his last three throws of the finals due to a strained pectoral muscle.

Krisztina Kovesi, a junior, placed eleventh in the triple jump with a mark of 41-11
