Cookeville, Tenn. - For the second time in two days, the Nebraska rifle team set a school record for total aggregate score when it defeated Tennessee Tech and Jacksonville State with a combined total of 6,180, bettering the previous best of 6,178 set Saturday against Jacksonville State.

The Huskers won the air rifle event with a score of 1,556 and finished second in smallbore (4,624) to claim the overall title in a match shot at Tucker Stadium Rifle Range in Cookeville, Tenn. Jacksonville State won the smallbore title with a score of 4,641 and finished second in the air rifle (1,530) to finish second overall with a total score of 6,170, while host school Tennessee Tech finished third in both events (4,161 and 1,507 to total 5,668).

Sophomore Amanda Trujillo captured her second consecutive air rifle title with a score of 391. In four matches this season, the Brush, Colo., native has fired scores of 390 or better three times, including a season-high score of 392 fired in a shoulder-to-shoulder match against JSU on Saturday. Junior Rachel Spiry had a career day, firing a personal-best score of 389 to finish second, bettering her previous high of 386 set on Saturday. Sophomore Nicole Allaire and junior Terim Richards both fired scores of 388 to finish in a tie for third. Freshman Melissa Downsbrough, competing as an individual, fired a 378.

Several Huskers fired season-high scores with the smallbore rifle, including Allaire, who shot a 1,172 to capture third, and Downsbrough, who fired a 1,160 to finish fourth. Nebraska claimed the next two places with Trujillo's score of 1,150 and freshman Heather Pissos' total of 1,142. Spiry, whose score was not counted in the team total, fired a 1,126. Jacksonville State's Kelly Dove won the individual title with a score of 1,180.

Nebraska will next be in action Nov. 10 when they travel to Kentucky to take on the Wildcats.
