Outlook
Terim Richards (pronounced TAIR-rum) has been one of the Huskers' top air rifle shooters throughout her career. Richards has twice qualified for the NCAA individual air rifle competition, and will look to become the first Husker to qualify three straight years.
"As the team captain, I expect her marksmanship skills to enable her to compete at a high level, but also to draw this team together throughout the season," Coach Karen Anthony said.
2000-01 (Junior)
For the second year in a row, Richards qualified for the individual air rifle competition at the NCAA Championships. Richards fired at least a 380 in every match to earn NRA second-team All-America honors. Her season average of 387.6 ranks third in school history, while she also sits second on the all-time charts for highest air rifle score.
Her best score of the season came in the Huskers' first match in Annapolis, Md., when she tied with Xavier's Thrine Kane for the event title. The following day, in a dual with the Virginia Military Institute, Richards won the air rifle title outright with a 389.
She was the Huskers' top shooter at the Walsh Invitational, where she fired a 392, one of four times last season that she bettered 389.

1999-2000 (Sophomore)
Entering the season, Richards was one of only two Huskers with collegiate shooting experience, but because of chronic wrist pain that made it difficult to shoot smallbore, Richards competed in only air rifle her sophomore season. With the increased specialty, she emerged as one of the top air rifle shooters in the country.
In just a year, Richards improved her average air rifle score by 29 points. She shot a personal-best 395 against Ohio State, helping the Huskers record a team-best 1,557 in air rifle for a school record aggregate score of 6,165. Richards' consistency throughout the season earned her a spot in the individual air rifle competition at the NCAA Championships, where she finished fifth (391).
