For 80 years (1922-2001), the Nebraska men's swimming and diving program created a proud tradition of success. From Nebraska's first official varsity letterwinners in 1921-22 (Hugh Carson, George Lindley and Neil Philip) through the final season of the men's program in 2000-01, the Husker men captured 21 conference titles and 12 more conference runner-up finishes.
The Husker men claimed their first individual conference titles from Frank Mockler (150 Backstroke) and Greg Waldo (50 Freestyle, 100 Freestyle) in 1929, while Pete Hagelin provided the Big Red with their first All-America award all the way back in 1935. Overall, 63 Husker men's swimmers and divers combined for 226 All-America honors, while 88 student-athletes joined forces for 191 individual conference crowns.
Nebraska's men's swimmers also found success on the sport's biggest stage, as 12 Huskers combined to make 19 appearances at the Olympic Games, including 2000 Olympic Gold Medalist Adam Pine (Australia).
