2005-Kyle Gubbels was 4-2 overall during the 2004-05 season, including 3-2 in dual competition. Gubbles earned 13 dual points on his way to two medical decisions. Gubbels notched five takedowns.

 

2004-Gubbels earned a record of 7-5 during his sophomore season in primarily open competition.  He went 1-1 in duals, including a win by fall over Venroy July of North Carolina on Feb. 14.  Gubbels finished fourth at the Great Plains Open in <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>Lincoln and went 4-2 at the UNO Open in Omaha, Neb.

 

2003-Filling in for an injured Justin Ruiz at 197 pounds, Gubbels recorded a 2-14 overall record and 1-11 dual mark wrestling two weight classes above his normal weight class of 174 pounds.

 

Before Nebraska-A four-year letterwinner for Head Coach Chad Schumacher, Gubbels was a two-time Class C state champion at 152 and 160 pounds.  Gubbels finished his career with a record of 133-21, including 38-0 in his senior year along with a No. 30 national ranking. Gubbels also lettered four years in football and three in track.

 

Personal-The son of Bill and Joan Gubbels, Kyle was born Jan. 18, 1984.  He has two brothers, Casey and Jerod. Kyle spent his summer vacation competing in wakeboard competitions. Gubbels is a pre-radiologic technology major.
