1999
-Wrestling at 141 pounds, DeAnda earned his first career All-America honor with a 3-3 showing and an eighth-place finish at the 1999 NCAA Championships. Tenth-seeded DeAnda earned a 15-6 major decision over North Carolina's Josh Cowley in the opening round, and followed with a 5-3 decision over Harvard's Dustin Denunzio. Second-seeded Chris Marshall of Central Michigan topped DeAnda, 4-2, in the quarterfinals, but the Husker bounced back with a 7-3 decision over Northwestern's Scott Schatzman. DeAnda ended his career with losses to West Virginia's Whitey Chlebove and Michigan's Damion Logan.

-Second-seeded DeAnda earned a 5-4 decision over Oklahoma State's Charles Walker in the semifinals, but lost a 5-2 match to Oklahoma's Michael Lightner in the final. However, DeAnda's second-place finish gave him an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships.

1997-DeAnda won the starting job at 142 pounds heading into the Big 12 Championships and earned the tournament's No. 3 seed. He was pinned by second-seeded Mike Harp of Missouri at 4:18 in the semifinals, and by Iowa State's David Maldonado in 5:34 in consolation action. DeAnda finished fourth and did not qualify for the NCAA Championships.

1999-
DeAnda went 28-9 overall, including 15-4 in duals, during the 1998-99 season. He earned 48 dual points while allowing just 15, and held a 47-9 advantage in dual takedowns. He had five major decisions and one technical fall during the season.

1998-DeAnda finished with a 15-7 overall record, including 3-4 in dual action, at 142 pounds. He recorded one pin and three major decisions. DeAnda earned third-place finishes at the Cowboy Open and the Navy Classic, aiding Nebraska to a first-place finish at the latter.

1997-DeAnda took over Nebraska's starting job at 142 pounds on Feb. 16, in the Huskers' dual at Northern Iowa. He won a 15-6 major decision over the Panthers' Glenn Pero, but dropped four consecutive matches to Big 12 opponents to end the season. He finished with a 19-14 overall record and a 2-4 dual mark. He was 3-1 at 126 pounds, 11-7 at 134 pounds and 5-6 at 142. He notched one pin and three major decisions. He finished second at 134 pounds at the Great Plains Open, fifth at 134 at the Mat Town Invitational and sixth at 142 at the Northern Iowa Open.

1996-DeAnda shared starting duties at 126 pounds with Jeramie Welder, and wrestled to an 18-9 record. DeAnda finished the season with a 3-4 dual mark, recording one pin and four major decisions.

1995-DeAnda redshirted and posted an 11-6 record in open competition. He placed third in the Freshman/Sophomore Division of the Omaha Open. DeAnda won seven straight matches and posted seven major decisions.

Before Nebraska-DeAnda won the Class A 125-pound Nebraska state title in 1994. He posted a 108-23 career mark,

Personal-Jose is the son of Antonio and Sara DeAnda. Jose's brother Tony was an NCAA qualifier for Nebraska at 134 pounds in 1996. Jose is majoring in Spanish.
