2023 (Junior)
Florence Belzile, a three-time member of the Top Drawer Soccer team, has a team-high 17 assists on the season, good for first in the conference and second nationally. In Big Ten history, she tied for second-most in history only behind Jennifer Walek, Minnesota (1995) and Christie Walsh, Penn State (2001) who both had 18. In the Husker record books, her assists on the season place her tied for second with Husker great Jenny Benson (1999) and is four out of first (Brittany Timko, 2005).
Additionally, she tallied three finishes on the season, good for third on the team with 23 points. Belzile also added 35 shots, 16 of which were on goal, as she helped NU to its program-best third-trip to the Elite Eight and a Big Ten regular season title.
2022 (Sophomore)
Belzile played in all 20 games and started in 14, while amassing 1,167 minutes. Belzile was tied for third on the team with three goals and added a team-high five assists. She recorded a point in six games during the season, while also tallying a brace in the Huskers’ upset of #24 Penn State on Oct. 20, 2022. Belzile recorded 29 shots on the year, 10 of which were shots on goal.
2021 (Freshman)
Belzile appeared in 12 games and amassed 336 minutes. She recorded seven shots, four of which were shots on goal. Her season high of 40 minutes came in the regular-season opener against Western Illinois on Aug. 19, and she tallied 30 or more minutes four times.
Other Information
Belzile trained under Brandon Frith the last two years at the Ontario Regional Excellence Super Center, a program tied to the Canadian National Team. From 2016 to 2018 she competed for the Cumberland Cobras Soccer Club. In 2018 the Cobras reached the semifinals at the U15 Canadian National Championships and won the Ontario Cup Championship. In 2019 she attended U17 Canadian National Team camps in both Mexico City and Markham, Ontario, Canada. Belzile comes from a military and athletic family. Her father was All-Ontario University Athletics in rugby while attending the Royal Military College of Canada and her mother was a Quebec provincial champion figure skater. Florence has lived in Chicoutimi (Quebec), Florida, Winnipeg (Manitoba), Colorado and Ottawa.
Personal Information
Florence is the daughter of Karine Blier and Jean-Yves Belzile, and was born on April 9, 2003. Florence has two siblings, Virginie and Jean-Christophe. Florence has not declared a major but she has earned four spots on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll.
