2023 (Junior) 
Sophia McClelland made an immediate impact as a transfer, competing in the all-around at all 12 meets and helping the Huskers to the NCAA Denver Regional. McClelland set new career bests on all four events and the all-around. McClelland earned Second-Team All-Big Ten honors and tallied six individual event titles. She opened the season with a 9.900 on beam, claiming the event title against Arkansas. At the Lindsey Ferris Invitational, McCelland earned both the beam and all-around titles. McClelland claimed her third beam title of the year, matching her personal best, with a 9.925 against Iowa. She set or matched her career-best scores on every event including in the all-around at Utah State while claiming the floor and beam title. 

2022 (Sophomore at BYU)
McClelland competed in every meet on beam for BYU during the 2022 season. She tied her personal-best on the event with a 9.925 against Boise State. McClelland also helped the Cougars to the NCAA Seattle Regional, competing on the beam and earning a 9.875. 

2021 (Freshman at BYU)
McClelland competed in 10 meets for the Cougars as a freshman. She earned a personal best on the beam against Boise State and Air Force with a 9.925. She also helped the Cougars to the NCAA Morgantown Regional, earning a 9.775 on beam. 

Before Nebraska
McClleland trained at Paramount Elite Gymnastics in Van Nuys, Calif., prior to her collegiate career. 

Personal
Sophia is the daughter of Teresa and John McClelland and has three sisters, Iassa, Jessie and Isabella, and one brother, Gus. She was born on Aug. 30, 2002. Sophia is studying child, youth and family studies. She has earned a spot on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll (Fall 2022). 

She chose Nebraska because “of their communications program and to help bring the women’s gymnastics team back to the top.”
