2022 (Senior)
Kaitlyn Higgins competed regularly on floor and beam during the 2022 season. Higgins claimed the beam title against Iowa with a 9.875. The senior matched her career-high score on floor with a 9.900 to help the Huskers to a second-place finish at the Big Five meet. Higgins finished the season at the Big Ten Championships, competing on beam (9.550) and floor (9.875).
2021 (Junior)
Higgins made her Husker debut against Illinois and competed in all 10 meets during the 2021 season. Higgins went on to qualify for the NCAA Regionals where she finished with a 9.775 on beam. Higgins earned three new career-high scores during the season. Higgins earned a score of 9.800 on vault at Iowa on Feb. 20, a score of 9.900 at the Big Five Meet on Feb. 26 and a 9.900 at Minnesota on March 5. Higgins was also recognized for her dedication to serving the Lincoln community earning a spot on the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team.
2020 (Sophomore/Minnesota)
Higgins joins the Huskers in 2021 after spending her first two collegiate seasons at Minnesota. As a sophomore for the Golden Gophers in 2020, Higgins matched her career high with a 9.850 to take second on floor against Illinois. She led off with a 9.825 on floor at the Rutgers quad meet and posted a season-best 9.725 on beam at Denver. The gymnastics season came to an abrupt end when the Big Ten and NCAA announced an end to competitions in mid-March because of the coronavirus pandemic. In the classroom, Higgins earned Academic All-Big Ten honors.
2019 (Freshman/Minnesota)
Higgins was a regular on floor as a freshman at Minnesota in 2019, producing a career high of 9.85 on the event. She notched her first 9.850 on floor against Pittsburgh (March 2), the first of four consecutive meets with a 9.850 routine, including Elevate the State (March 8), at the Missouri quad meet (March 15) and the 2019 Big Ten Championships (March 23). Higgins added a 9.700 on floor at the NCAA Regional Semifinals, before recording a 9.775 at the NCAA Regional Finals. She made her collegiate debut against Iowa on beam.
Before College
A graduate of Big Foot High School in Walworth, Wis., Higgins competed with the Gymnastics Academy of Rockford. She was the Level 9 Eastern National gymnastics all-around champion in 2013 and a Junior Olympic qualifier in 2016 and 2017. Higgins took eighth in the all-around (37.875) at the Junior Olympic qualifier in 2016.
Personal
The daughter of Tom and Jill Higgins, Kaitlyn has a brother, Kyle. A nutrition and health sciences major, Kaitlyn earned her bachelor's degree from Nebraska in December of 2022. She earned Academic All-Big Ten honors in 2020 and claimed a spot on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the fall of 2022. She was a member of the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team in 2021 and 2022.
